Kathleen Ann Hatch Barrett passed away at First Health Hospital, Pinehurst North Carolina on Monday, June 18, 2012 after a very brief illness. She was born on November 30, 1948 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Julia and Thomas Hatch. Her family moved to Greenwich, CT in 1958 where she attended St. Mary's Elementary School and High School. Kathy then graduated from Spalding University in Louisville, Kentucky. She spent the next 38 years in several positions for Greenwood Press in Westport, CT. She married William Barrett of Old Greenwich in 1969 and moved to Ridgefield, CT, until their retirement in 2011. They then moved to Pinehurst, NC, which they were vastly enjoying. She was predeceased by her mother, father and older brother Tom. Kathy is survived by her husband, Bill, brother Steve Hatch and wife Adele, of Cos Cob, her nephew Scott Hatch of Annapolis, Stacey Baxendale of Riverside, and two grand nieces, Ellie and Kate Baxendale. There will be a memorial service at Sacred Heart Church in Pinehurst, NC at 11:00 a.m. on June 28, 2012. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Kathy's name to your choice of worthy charities.
