Sacred Oath Films On Friday the 13th

There were no black cats or skulls to be found on the set last Friday night but there was an air of mystery for the filming of Sacred Oath's video "Meet Your Maker." The Bethel rockers reveled in the eeriness of Friday the 13th last weekend as they headbanged in full force for their latest music video. Filmed in the back yard of front man Rob Thorne, the video shoot included the band, an ariel dancer/gymnast performing high up in the air, and dancers doing a ritualistic dance around a bonfire.
The four-piece band has been inspiring headbangers young and old since 1985. In fact they give away at Sacred Oath neck brace at all of their shows to the best headbanger of the night.
Led by Bethel native Rob Thorne on vocals and guitar, the band's sound is classic metal. Fellow Bethel native Kenny Evans plays drums, and two of Rob's former music students Bill Smith, guitar, and Brendan Kelleher, bass, complete the line-up. Sacred Oath's fans are passionate about their love of "The Oath," with one loyal 13-year-old fan driving 3 hours for last month's Record Store Day album release and signing at Disc & Dat.
Their new album, World On Fire, "represents the very best Sacred Oath has to offer," Thorne said.
Kristen Powers, owner of Starr Ridge Studios in Brewster, N.Y., filmed the video. She directed Sacred Oath's last two videos "Words Upon The Stone" and Counting Zeros." Powers and Thorne co-directed the video, which as of yet has no release date. Dancers from the Bethel High School Dance Team performed around the bonfire. Marissa Veilleux, Jessica Wade and Jennifer Correnty, all currently BHS students, and Leila Noone, an NYU grad student, practiced their tribal dance for weeks before the shoot to get it just right. Practice paid off as the quartet performed in synch to the music while the camera rolled. The girls said they were very excited to be included in the filming of the video and their parents watched from the sidelines, beaming with pride.
Sacred Oath prides themselves on releasing a new album every year since 2007. That was they year they released the critically acclaimed comeback album "Darkness Visible" (2007 Sentinel Steel). In 2008 "Till Death Do Us Part" (2008) was released and listed on iTunes as one of the Top 8 best live metal albums. Last year’s self-titled Sacred Oath album catapulted the band to MTV2 where they premiered on Headbangers Ball. They also had a Discovery Download feature on iTunes.
The band is currently planning a limited number of performances in 2011.
