Locavores Take Note! Due to ALL OF THE RAIN ~ The Bethel Farmers Market will now open on June 25!
Have a hankering for some bok choy? Craving some sweet rhubard pie? Well then this news is for you! The Bethel Farmers Market will now open on June 25, rather than the 18th as previously reported. The Bethel Farmers Market is located at 67 Stony Hill Road is one of the oldest markets in the state of Connecticut. It was started over two decades ago by a group of local farmers most of whom are vendors.
All of the vendors are located within a 50-mile radius from the market, according to Market Manager Sara Blersch, who also runs the Southbury Farmer's Market on Thursdays at Southbury Town Hall. Blersch owns Daffodil Hill Growers and is a vendor at the market as well. Farmers sell plants, fresh fruits and vegetables, soaps, baked goods, meats, eggs, and prepared foods.
First Selectman Matthew Knickerbocker is working with an advisory board to bring a second market to downtown business on Thursdays beginning in June. More details will follow as Knickerbocker updates Hamlet Hub.
