2013 C.H.A.M.P.
“What do you need?” This is the question 2013 C.H.A.M.P. honoree and BHS alumnus Todd Ingersoll (’88) asks virtually every time he speaks to anyone from our schools. C.H.A.M.P. stands for Commitment, Honesty, Attitude, Motivation, Pride. The award is given annually to a community member who has demonstrated a positive influence in uniting our schools and the community. Todd’s involvement in our schools is deep. A number of years ago he initiated the Teacher of the Month recognition through which one Bethel teacher each month gets to drive a new car for a month. Over the years, Todd has donated half a dozen SMARTboards to BHS, he annually sponsors the post-prom and the Alumni Hall of Fame dinner, and he provides a car for the hole-in-one contest at the annual golf tournament. Todd sponsors our plays and musicals and supports our education foundation. Recently, Todd learned of our need to provide computers to students in need. He generously provided 15 laptops. When Todd learned that a few of our entrepreneurial middle schoolers were raising funds to aid relief for Sandy Hook families, he matched their contributions. Consequently, our middle school students were able to send a check to the Sandy Hook Relief fund in the amount of $10,000.
