Danbury Animal Welfare Society, Inc. (DAWS) announced today that Teryl Flynn has joined the non-profit animal shelter as its new Operations Director.
Ms. Flynn will report to the DAWS Board of Directors, and lead all functions of the shelter with a goal to improve overall operational effectiveness. In her new capacity, she will contribute to the development and implementation of organizational strategies and practices, provide input on shelter policies, ensure those policies are managed and upheld, lead safe and efficient daily operations of the shelter, and guide all DAWS programs in their operational and goal-driven efforts.
“DAWS is thrilled to have Teryl as part of our organization,” says John Piper, President of the Board of Directors at DAWS. “The Operations Director role that Teryl is assuming is a critical role in the transformation of our shelter. Thanks to the wealth of experience she brings to DAWS, Teryl will assist the shelter in our near- and long-term goals through the entrepreneurial spirit and the exceptional leadership skills that she already has demonstrated to our organization.”
Ms. Flynn formally joined DAWS on January 5 following her recent retirement from Development Dimensions International, a global talent management consultancy. During her 25 years there as a talent management consultant, Ms. Flynn managed a U.S.-based team comprised of training and project consultants who were charged with developing and implementing change and performance management initiatives and training programs for company clients.
At DAWS, she will incorporate her background to help improve processes at DAWS and build upon the shelter’s 40 years of operational success.
“I first became acquainted with DAWS in 2014 as a volunteer in the dog program, walking dogs and helping them to find adoptive families,” says Ms. Flynn. “From those beginnings, I was immediately impressed with the organization, particularly the dedication of staff and volunteers in their mission to help animals in need. As Operations Director, I believe I can help DAWS in our mission to make a real difference in the lives of animals.”
