New Pond Farm Education Center Celebrates 30 Years With the Return of Paul Winter and a ‘Taste of the Farm’

New Pond Farm is celebrating 30 years of – Connecting people with the land that enriches and sustains us – and you’re invited. On September 12th the Paul Winter Consort will fill the pastoral grounds of New Pond Farm with their extraordinary melodies and rhythms. The celebration continues after the concert with a very special reception with Paul Winter and his musicians for a Taste of the Farm - a selection of farm fresh hors d’oeuvres paired with Italian wines, prepared by acclaimed chef Evan Hanczor.
Whether playing in canyons or cathedrals, concert halls or his backyard, Paul Winter makes music that engages his musicians and his audience in their hearts and souls, minds and conscience.
New Pond Farm and Paul Winter share a special connection that goes back to the early 70s when Winter lived at the Farm and was a good friend of Carmen Mathews, the founder of the Education Center. A seven-time Grammy winner, Paul and the Consort are known for their rich sound textures and distinct blend of the instrumental voices. The Consort has performed over 2,000 concerts in major concert halls of the Americas, Europe and Asia, in major cathedrals such as Washington's National Cathedral, Grace Cathedral in San Francisco, and New York's St. John the Divine, where Paul is an artist in residence.
Hailing from Redding, author and chef Evan Hanczor is one of New York’s rising stars in the world of sustainable cooking. In addition to scrambling thousands of eggs per week at Egg in Brooklyn, Hanczor works on local and international food policy and sustainability issues. In 2015 he was invited to be a guest chef at The James Beard American Restaurant in Milan and recently co-wrote and published Breakfast: Recipes to Wake Up For (Rizzoli) with George Weld.
