Bethel Navy JROTC Students Awarded for Excellence

The Bethel Navy JROTC conducted their annual inspection on Tuesday, Dec. 15th. The Inspecting Officer, Commander J. Miller, the northeast regional manager for 60 NJROTC units and over 10,000 cadets came away quite impressed with the Bethel cadets describing them as "the model program" for the region and one of the best in the nation.

The formal inspection had the cadets undergo a very thorough uniform inspection, and they also had to account for the over $200,000.00 in training materials, books, computers, instructional technology and uniforms the Navy provides to Bethel. The inspection culminated with a formal ceremony where all 206 Bethel cadets gathered in the gym to demonstrate their excellence through the art of marching drill, and to conduct an awards and change of command ceremony.

CDR Miller selected 5 of the 206 cadets inspected to receive the exemplary personal appearance award. That honor went to cadets Shannon Flanagan, Stephen Spinella, Heather Sholtes, Emily Johnson and Evan Wachsman. The ceremony concluded with Cadet Marko Pilepich relieving Cadet Tayler Schwamb as the Battalion Commander.
