Hundreds of families and thousands of people will flock to the borough on, for the Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce’s 11th Annual Duck Day and Race at the corner of Maple and Water Streets will be held this Sunday, June 5th form 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine, admission is free.

This event benefits more than 65 area nonprofit organizations and is one of the largest “duck race” fundraisers in Connecticut. Over the past 10 years, more than 150 nonprofit organizations have received more than $300,000 from participating in the Duck Day and Race.

The full-day celebration offers many popular activities and events, including the Duck Race, a Jumbo Duck Race, a Corporate Duck Decoration Contest, dunk tank featuring local teachers, officials and business leaders, and new Scavenger Hunt Game offering 10 prizes of $100 each. The highlight will be at 2 p.m. when thousands of rubber ducks will be dumped from the Whittemore Bridge to race down the Naugatuck River to be among the first 25 to cross the finish line.

Day-long festivities will include kids’ games; food and craft vendors; circus performers; business booths; live entertainment; a Bounce House, and much more. Raffle tickets for the Duck Race will be sold in advance and throughout the day, and must be purchased to be eligible to win 1 of 25 prizes.

The top 10 Duck Race prizes include the grand prize of $5,000 cash; a TCL 40-inch Roku Smart LED TV; a $300 Viso Bello Day Spa & Massage Therapy Center gift card; an Amazon Echo with wireless remote; a $379 gift certificate for a Movie Night In-Your-Own-Backyard Service for up to 2 hours, redeemable at OMG Entertainment; a one-year family membership for up to four people at the Naugatuck YMCA; a coupon booklet from O’Rourke & Birch Florist Inc. for one floral bouquet per month for 12 months; four tickets to a Broadway 2016-17 Series performance at the Palace Theater; a $150 gift certificate for a private chocolate experience party and tasting for up to 15 people at Fascia’s Chocolates, and a $100 gift card for the 66 Church pub and restaurant.

Raffle tickets can be purchased in Naugatuck at Dr. Henry K. Danziger, DDS, 297 Church St.; Liberty Bank at 333 Church St.; Nardelli’s Grinder Shoppes at 87 Maple St.; Naugatuck Chamber of Commerce at 270 Church St., and the Waterbury Regional Chamber at 83 Bank Street in Waterbury.

More than five dozen local nonprofit organizations will benefit from the money raised during the 11th Annual Duck Day & Race. They include: Acts 4 Ministry, Inc.; American Legion Auxiliary; Children’s Community School; Connecticut Choral Society; Grace Lutheran Church; Howard Whittemore Library; Meriden Humane Society; Naugatuck Day Care, Inc.; Naugatuck Elks Club; Naugatuck YMCA; Pink 4 All; Pomperaug High School Interact Club; Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury; Seven Angles Theatre; Shepard-Salem Masonic Lodge; Union Congregational Church; United way of Naugatuck and Beacon Falls; Waterbury PTA Council; Waterbury Chapter of UNICO, and Zion Lutheran Church.
