
With voter turnout considered light even with the new early voting laws, the campaign for 2 open seats on the Southeast Town Council may come down to the absentee ballots cast. As of 10 pm election evening with all district’s reporting, 3,342 ballots were cast (including 120 absentee ballots which will be counted next week.
Edwin Alvarez, the incumbent Republican leads the race with 1,716 votes. Newcomer John P. O'Connor (Rep) has received 1694 votes and Incumbent Democrat Lynne A. Eckardt had received 1,630 votes. Newcomer Zach Disador received 1244 votes.
With 120 absentee ballots to be open and counted sometime next week, anyone one of the top 3 candidates could gain or loose ground.
