Pick up Italian Meals Quickly at Romano’s, Shrub Oak

With social distancing limiting our public outings, locating an efficient, quick stop meal source has become a top priority!

Those traveling along the Route 6 Corridor between Peekskill to Putnam County will appreciate their easy stop curbside delivery. There is also plenty of parking if you’d like to go inside and examine the mouthwatering baked stuffed rolls, calzones, paninis, desserts and pre-made pizza sold by the slice. Need some temptation? The slice choices are endless. “Our top-selling slices are full of surprises such as; Pescara, a clam, garlic, tomato, mozzarella pie w/fresh herbs and a spicy hot oil on top, or the Solenta featuring thinly sliced, oven-baked eggplant, black olives, basil pesto, fresh mushrooms and homemade mozzarella,” exclaims Anthony Romano, owner/operator. A graduate of the Peter Kump Culinary School in Manhattan, Romano previously owned Paese Pasta & Pizza in Briarcliff Manor for 20 years prior to relocating his family-owned business to Shrub Oak in January 2019.

Not one to sit on his laurels, Romano recently introduced a second Gluten-Free pizza crust, inspired by the success of his first pie, a thin brown rice crust, prepared in any style you can imagine. If gluten is a concern in your family the new, Cauliflower Crust pie does not disappoint! I ordered a white pizza with garlic sautéed spinach. The white pie came with homemade mozzarella and each individual slice had some weight to them. The Gluten-free pizza slice held together very well and no toppings dropped off! The sturdy crust does not taste like a vegetable, more like an appetizer cracker with a flatbread crunch and showcasing their toppings as the main event!
