
Mark W. Gearing, of Naples, FL died on Monday January 4, 2021. He was 63 years old.
Mark was born on January 16, 1957 in Silver Springs, Maryland son of the late Edward Gearing and Betty (Zucca) Gearing. He was a 1976 graduate of New Fairfield High School in New Fairfield, CT.
On July 13th, 2003 he married the love of his life Carol. They resided in Putnam Lake, NY until recently moving to Naples, FL in November 2020.
Mark shared a passion for the grocery business starting at the New Fairfield Food Center to later owning the Putnam Lake Market in Brewster, NY in the early 2000’s. In his later years, Mark took on another passion as a driver at Anna’s Airport & Limousine Service in Brewster, NY.
Mr. Gearing’s greatest passion in life was his family. He would do anything for his wife, his two sons, his two step-daughters and his grandchildren. He enjoyed sports, especially the Dallas Cowboys and supporting his grandchildren in whatever they did. Mark was an avid golfer and loved boating on the lake. Mark enjoyed any vacation and would plan the trip around food. He was a parishioner of St Edwards the Confessor in New Fairfield, CT. Mark was a seven-year survivor of pancreatic cancer thanks to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Mark was a fighter and always looking forward to the next thing.
Mark is not only survived by his loving wife of 17 years, but also his two sons; Mark S. and Justin E., both of New Fairfield, CT, his step-daughter Heather and her husband Michael of Cornwall, NY, step-daughter Eve and her husband Thomas of Cornwall, NY, his brother Michael C. and his wife Debbie of Lake Wiley, NC, his sister Linda Murphy of Naples, FL. and his brother Rick of Texas. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren; Julia, Zachary, Allie, Sydney, Natalia, Cameron, Ryan, Nicholas, Christian, TJ, Avery and Samantha. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday January 8, 2021 at St Edwards the Confessor Church in New Fairfield, CT at 10am. Interment will follow at The Woodbury Cemetery, Woodbury, CT. Visitation will be held on Thursday January 7 at Beecher Funeral Home 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY from 4pm-8pm. Due to COVID-19 restriction the funeral home is limited to 30 people at one time, you may be asked to wait until someone leaves. Masks are also to be worn in the funeral home and the church.
