It’s no secret that getting a college education has become incredibly expensive. To help families meet the rising costs of tuition, Cartus Corporation annually presents three scholarships to children of its employees.

Maxwell Greene of Brewster, New York was awarded $2,000, which he will apply to tuition at the University of Scranton in the fall. Maxwell is the son of Senior HR Compliance Specialist Laura Greene, who works in our Danbury headquarters of Cartus Corporation.

Maxwell plans to pursue a degree in neuroscience, with minors in mathematics and computer science. Maxwell has been actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America, Brewster Troop 1. He’s accomplished several 30-40 mile hiking and canoeing treks in the Adirondack Mountains, travelled through the Florida Keys on a high-adventure sailing expedition and completed National Youth Leadership Training. He mentioned a meaningful experience in his application essay – repairing houses for victims of Hurricane Sandy.

Other community service has included preparing and serving meals at the Brewster Emergency Shelter Partnership, helping to distribute food at the Brewster Community Food Pantry and developing their website, brewsterfoodpantry.org. Teachers describe Maxwell as an excellent communicator who can “rub elbows with the smartest staff members [in the high school] and hold his own.” He is someone who is inquisitive, never satisfied with a basic understanding – and he plays a “mean baritone horn,” too.
