Save the date: Nov 20 Concerts Around the Corner: Next Generation

The Cultural Arts Coalition presents: Music for trumpet, piano and strings, Jessica Stein and friends, Sunday, November 20th, 3:00pm, Studio Around the Corner, Brewster NY.
All of the musicians are graduates of, or current students at the Conservatory of Music at SUNY Purchase: Jessica Stein, trumpet; Naseer Ashraf, piano; Gustavo Briceño, violin; Allison Dubois, violin; Michela Christianson, viola; Sasha Ono, cello; Gabe Harris, bass. The program will include “The Hollow Men” by Vincent Persichetti, String Trio, Opus 9, number 1, by Ludwig van Beethoven, and the Septet in Eb Major by Camille Saint-Saëns. The musicians will talk about the historical context of these works. Refreshments will be provided.
Jessica Stein is an active trumpet player and teacher in the New York Metropolitan area. A multi-faceted musician, Jessica plays in genres that include chamber music, orchestra and musical theater. She has performed with the Norwalk Symphony Orchestra and Yonkers Philharmonic. Most recently, Jessica attended the prestigious Aspen Music Festival in Aspen, Colorado. She spent eight weeks in Aspen performing in orchestras, a brass quintet, and being trained by some of the top trumpet players in the country. Jessica is an active pit musician, and she is frequently called to play musical theater productions in Putnam, Westchester, and the surrounding areas. She recently started a business that provides music for special events. Jessica holds her Bachelor of Music in Trumpet Performance and Music Education from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University and her Master of Music in Trumpet Performance from SUNY Purchase. Her primary teachers include: Joe Burgstaller, Ed Hoffman, Phil Snedecor, and Ray Mase.
Cellist, Sasha Ono, performs at venues such as Avery Fischer Hall at Lincoln Center, Madison Square Garden, Soka University Performing Arts Center as well as venues internationally as a soloist, chamber and orchestral musician. Sasha has worked as a musician, consultant, and arranger for the show “Mozart in the Jungle”. In addition to performing on a regular basis, she teaches High School Chamber Orchestra, High School Orchestra Lessons, and Elementary Strings in Brewster, New York where she continues to research string pedagogy.
