Beware of Fundraising Scam Pretending to be BHS Track Team

The following letter was sent by the Superintendent of Brewster Schools:

Dear Brewster Community,

It has come to our attention that a fundraising scam is underway. It was reported to us that a member of our community received a phone call from someone soliciting funds for the Brewster High School Track Team. The person who received the phone call became suspicious and ended the call. Please know that it is not the practice of the District to engage in any fundraising by calling, texting, mailing or emailing our residents. In fact, it is illegal for us to do this. If you receive this type of solicitation, please try to get the phone number and organization that they represent and notify the District. We will contact law enforcement. Elderly community members are particularly vulnerable to these types of scams. Please pass this information along to senior members who may be your neighbors or family members. Our School Resource Officers have also been alerted.

Sincerely,
Valerie Henning-Piedmonte
