Shane's Imagine-Nation Created by Local Mom in Honor of Her Son

Last April, tragedy struck our community. Just shy of his 12th birthday, Shane Resnick took his own life because he was bullied.

A GoFundMe Campaign was created to help defray the cost because single mother, “Sandy Lundy Resnick bravely donated Shane's organs so that others could live but this selfless gift meant extra nights in the hospital as Shane was kept on life support to keep the organs viable for the recipients.”

But this isn’t where the story ends. “I intend to ensure that Shane's death was not in vain. Shane was bullied simply because he loved Broadway Theater. Shane was 11,” explains Sandy, “Shane was the happiest child, and so beautiful both inside and out. I'm SO proud to have been his mom. I must turn this tragedy into something that would make Shane proud.”

Sandy is in the process of establishing a foundation called 'Shane's Imagine-Nation' that will reward and recognize the kids who stand up to bullying, and speak out against it. “To me, these kids are heroes,” states Sandy,” and setting this Foundation up is what keeps me getting up every day.”

The foundation process is lengthy and until it is official, any donations can be made directly to the GoFundMe page that was set up in Shane's name.

In the meantime, Sandy welcomes stories of kids who exemplify what Shane's Imagine-Nation is about: those who have displayed bravery and courage to stand up and speak up against bullying! Let's get these kids recognized and once the Foundation is created - we can actually DO SOMETHING for them!

Here’s an opportunity to do something in addition to sending your thoughts and prayers. To find out more or to share a story, visit Shane’s Imagine-Nation on Facebook.
