Congratulations to the S.A.L.T.Y. Hands Club of Brewster High School

Congratulations to the S.A.L.T.Y. Hands club of Brewster High School for putting on yet another spectacular Mr. Brewster event on March 1. On this Friday night, 12 young men competed in the annual Mr. Brewster contest.  Not only was this night a huge fundraiser for Cystic Fibrosis, but it also provided hilarious entertainment for all of those who came to watch. In the weeks before the show, a group of senior boys raised money, hoping to reach $1,000, which was the minimum to get them on stage.  This year, there were 12 boys on stage, with an extra 5 who participated in the group dance during the show choreographed by our Dance and Step Team captains. Altogether, they raised just over $54,000 via online donations, throughout the school, and though word of mouth, with an additional $3,300 from the night of the show.  A few of the top fundraisers were Patrick Nevin, Patrick Feehan, Ed Kaufman, Mark Delgado, and Brendan Fox. The judges faced a tough decision on who should be titled Mr. Brewster. They ranked the boys’ stage performances and talent, while in consideration of the money raised. Overall, Patrick Nevin took the crown. His $13,000 and ventriloquist talents were enough to assure 1st place.  Although, a few other stand-out performances included Anthony Ferrandino’s rendition of “Your Man,” Patrick Feehan’s portrayal of the Village People’s “YMCA,” a few duets and pianists. All in all, the night was a great success. With lots of laughter and a widespread awareness for Cystic Fibrosis, this event will undoubtedly continue in the coming years. A big thank you to Ms. Egan for stepping up as the new advisor this year, previous advisor Mrs. Lieval for helping every step of the way, Mrs. Chalmers for working behind the scenes, the many officers of the club, and of course, Lisa and Brian McPartland for being advocates of C.F. and helping in every way possible throughout the year.
