Northern West/Putnam St. Patrick's Day Parade Turns Mahopac and Carmel Green!

The Annual Northern Westchester & Putnam St. Patricks Day Parade was held yesterday on Route 6 in Mahopac. Despite a windy day with temps in the highs 40's, along with a small threat of rain, thousands of Putnam and Westchester residents lined the route to cheer on the Irish. Grand Marshall Brendan McDonnell, Representing the Stephen P. Driscoll Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #704 where is is a Founding Member and past Drum Major of their band) led an enthusiast horde of marchers, Pipe bands (Some from as far as Binghamton, NY) and Floats along Route 6 from the Mahopac Fire House north to the Stop-n-Shop Plaza. Dozens of civic and Government leaders were also part of the procession along with several irish dance schools and HS ROTC Groups.
After the Parade, the Knights of Columbus-Our Lady of the Lakes Council, #6318 hosted a corned beef and cabbage dinner with all the fixings, at their Council Hall on Fair Street. The Council was open to the entire community and.
the Knights served almost 225 meals to diners who were entertained by Singer/Musician Ed Mullaney and the Caln na hÉirann School of Irish Dance along with a special appearance by the Stephen P. Driscoll Memorial Pipe Band.
