Joel Spector is Current Artist at Town Hall Exhibit

The Brookfield Arts Commission presents the works of Joel Spector now through April 26, shown on both floors of the Brookfield Town Hall. Known for his images of elegance, Joel was born in Havana, Cuba. He came to the United States at the age of twelve and currently lives in Milford, CT with his wife Rowena and their four children. Joel graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology and attended the Art Students League. He received his MFA from WSCU in 2005. 

Joel started out in the field of fashion illustration then moved on to general illustration and has since worked on many well-known accounts. his work has been published in books, children's books, magazines, newspapers, advertising and annual reports.

Joel is an award-winning artist whose honors include the 2011 International Portrait Competition in Atlanta, GA; Artist's Magazine 2011 Competition; Gold Medal Awards from Pastel Society of America, Society of Illustrators awards and Best in Show at the Kent Art Association.

Joel's work has been shown at the New Britain Museum of American Art, the Slater Memorial Museum in Norwich and various galleries throughout the region. He has been featured in Artist's Magazine, American Art Collector's Magazine, Best  of Pastels, International Artist Magazine and many others. A Japanese television company produced a documentary showing his vibrant and methodical illustration process. Presently Joel is working on  murals for the Norwegian Cruise Lines.

The next exhibit, scheduled for May 1st, is the popular Student's Art Show, featuring elementary through high school-age artists.
