A mobile food vendor parked outside the Brookfield Municipal Center is serving up fresh meals to the hungry mobs who work or play in or around the Brookfield Municipal Center, now that the weather is nicer. The Good Luck Food Truck is a popular hit with everyone from sports moms to work crews, or those working or doing business at the town hall on Pocono Rd.
Steve Sisco first started his food service last fall in a spot adjacent to the music pavillion and has returned this year in his shiney new, custom-fitted white box truck bearing his checkered red, white and black logo. Only a year ago, Steve lost his job on Wall Street and did something he always wanted to do, cook and work in food service. He had attended a culinary school in the '90's, now known as the Culinary Institute of the Arts. He has since raised a family and lives in Danbury with his wife and two sons who attend Broadview and Danbury High School, respectively.
His menu reflects wholesome, creative food choices with an oriental flair. There is no disputing all are made with fresh ingredients, even down to the sesame soy sauce. Desert is a choice of chewy, moist, home-made chocolate-chip cookies, gluten-free or not (baked fresh by Steve's wife). The daily menu is simple a choice of three: Korean Taco, with beef, chicken or tofu with asian slaw, cucumber relish, kimchi, bean sprouts, onion, cilantro, and chipotle sauce (or a choice there of) served on a flour tortilla or the Korean Rice Bowl (Bibimbap) with beef, chicken or tofu on a bed of rice and topped with bean sprouts and shredded carrots. Spicy red sauce is optional on both.
Drinks include cold water bottles or diet soda for only $1.00.
The hours are Tues., Weds. and Fri. 11:30 to 2:30 and Thurs. noon to 5:00. On Sundays Steve has contracted with the Elephant's Trunk Flea Market in New Milford.
