Methodius J. Tomascak, 68, of Brookfield, husband of Leona (Yarrish) Tomascak, died on Sunday morning, March 13, 2016 at the Hospital of St. Raphael, New Haven, CT.

A Brookfield native, Matt was born on July 21, 1947 to Andrew and Veronica (Piskura) Tomascak. He attended Brookfield schools and graduated from Brookfield High School.

He was a retired machinist having been employed with Heise Dresser of Newtown and later at their Stratford, CT facility.

A lifelong Brookfield resident, he was a member of St. Joseph Parish of Brookfield.

Matt enjoyed woodworking, yard work, coffee at Dunkin Donuts in Brookfield and New Milford, ocean cruises, Mohegan Sun and most especially the time spent with his family.

He will be sorely missed.

In addition to his wife, Leona of forty three years, Matt is survived by a daughter, Kari Amorando and her husband Allen II of New Milford; a son, Matthew Tomascak and his wife, Jennifer also of New Milford; two grandchildren who were his special pride and joy; Alyssa and Adam Amorando; his mother in law, Janet Yarrish Miller; six sisters, Sister M. Isadore of Danville, PA, Margaret DeLuca (Mario) of Boynton Beach, FL, Barbara Carmignani (Vincent) of Danbury, Cecilia Hungerford of New Milford, Christina Richards (Don) of Woodbury, CT and Marion White of Bristol; six brothers, Andrew (Barbara) of Sarasota, FL, Albert (Elaine) of Roxbury, CT, Peter (Lee) of Brookfield, Cyril (Waynne) of New Milford, Robert (Patty) of Port Charlotte, FL and James (Debbie) of Southbury; many nieces, nephews, grand nieces , grand nephews and cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph R. C. Church, Brookfield with Fr. George F. O’Neill, Pastor officiating.

Interment will take place in St. Peter Cemetery, Danbury.

The family will receive friends in the Jowdy-Kane Funeral Home, 9-11 Granville Ave., Danbury on Thursday, March 17, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
