John McHugh Appointed Executive Director for The Arc of Putnam

John McHugh Executive Director of The Arc of Ulster-Greene Has Been Appointed to Serve as Executive Director for The Arc of Putnam

The Arc of Putnam has officially named John McHugh as its new Executive Director effective August 1, 2018. McHugh will replace long-term executive, Susan Limongello, who recently retired after serving the agency for almost 18 years. “The Arc of Putnam Board of Directors and I are extremely proud to have John assume this role,” stated Limongello. “John brings extensive knowledge and experience to the position; key elements which are crucial to ensure that the collaboration of these two organizations will prosper and grow.”

McHugh joined The Arc of Ulster-Greene in early 2008 as Chief Financial Officer and became Executive Director in 2013. He has over 18 years of financial experience in the disability services field and hospital administration. McHugh’s connection to The Arc began as a teen when his younger brother, Jimmy, was born with Down syndrome. The family began to receive services from Orange County AHRC. John is committed to provide individuals with developmental disabilities and their families the opportunity to lead fulfilling lives.

John holds an MBA from SUNY New Paltz as well as a dual certified Masters in Education and Special Education from Mount St. Mary College. John is a Board Member for National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP).

“I’m honored to be taking on this new role and to continue the collaboration between both The Arc of Ulster-Greene and The Arc of Putnam,” said McHugh. “Collaborating departments within the organizations is the most efficient and effective way to improve supports during a period of time when program funding is stagnant or declining. Working together we can achieve our goals in the challenging climate that we find ourselves in today. Together we are more dynamic and effective for the people we support, which will always remain our number one goal and focus.”
