The members of the Putnam County Italian American Social Club saw a need and filled it. Members had been hearing about needy families in the community and with the help of Ace Endico and Kobackers Market, they were able to feed over 400 local residents.
Member Joe Castellano said that the members had been wondering what to do to help in the pandemic crisis when some of them decided to pool some money and cook an authentic Italian meal to be given away to local families. When Ace Endico and Kobackers heard about the endeavor they were eager to help. They donated food and money to the club so that the clubs initial idea of feeding 200 quickly people swelled to 400.
Late Saturday Afternoon the club members stood outside the club while vehicle after vehicle pulled in and received the prepackaged meals for 4. Also on hand were Club Member Nick Amendola and his three daughters. The daughters, Kelly, Kristy and Casey, had several different themed handmade masks for sale for only $3 each as vehicles came into the lot. The sisters pledged that for every mask sold another one would be donated to Montefiore Hospital and homeless shelters.
Club Member Castellano was very appreciative of the donations from Kobackers Market and Ace Endico without which they would not have ben able to feed so many.
