This past weekend Croton Harmon High School presented an age perennial theatrical favorite, the wickedly funny Arsenic and Old Lace. The play set in Brooklin in the early Twentieth Century, centered around a pair of sweet but homicidal old ladies and the antics of the equally demented scions of their extended family. Especially strong performances were put in by Julie Smith and Olivia Huigens as the twisted Brewster spinsters,Christian Cabrera as their delusional live in nephew, Christian Cabrera as his hapless and unwitting brother Mortimer, and his long lost, diabolical escaped convict brother Jonathan, portrayed by Matheuss van der Wilden. The fast paced folly was staged on an elaborate and well lit household set. The play, directed by Joseph Merriam, was supported by a very capable backstage crew, headed by Brandon Sargeant, stage managed by Delaney Ritchie, featuring lighting by Andre Dvorak, makeup by Loretta Violent and sound by Tommy Kaplan.
