Westfield Winds – a woodwind quintet present Dancing with Danzi

The Danbury Music Centre will present WESTFIELD WINDS, a woodwind quintet in recital at the Danbury Music Centre on Saturday, April 27, at 8:00pm in the Marian Anderson Recital Hall at 256 Main Street, Danbury.

In addition to the standard four woodwinds - flute, oboe, clarinet and bassoon - a woodwind quintet also includes a French horn. Although a brass instrument, the horn's warm and mellow sound blends well with woodwinds. Woodwind quintets have been written since the late 17th century and continue to be written to this day.

The performers in this concert are Kathy Olsen, flute, Jim Thoensen, oboe, Ann Howell, clarinet, Joe Howell, horn, and Kim Lemak, bassoon. The recital will feature music of the dance – waltzes, pavannes, polkas, tangos, boleros, and more. In addition, the quintet will perform a quintet by the master of woodwind quintet composers, Franz Danzi.

There will be a reception following the concert. Admission to this performance is free.
