Line Dancing at Coyote Maverick in Danbury, CT

Tuesday night I went for the first time to try a free class of line dancing at Coyote Maverick on Newtown Road in Danbury. It is up the road from Denny's on the right hand side. There is a $5 cover fee to get in, worth every penny. In my younger days I would dance at clubs to disco music, but now it looks like line dancing is the new disco. I had a blast. The line dance instructor was easy to follow and the more experienced dancers were eager to help the newbies. There were people of all ages, from there 20's up to 70's. Once the line dancing class was over the instructor stayed to dance with everyone else. The energy and excitement in the air every time a new country song began was exhilarating. Once all the boot wearing guys and gals (boots are not required), moved onto the dance floor, I sometimes felt I was sitting in a dance hall in Wyoming, Oklahoma or Nebraska.

This much fun and exercise and is cheaper than a regular gym membership. One point during the night a young man sat down next to me and said, "This place is great, I have lived here all my life and never knew this was here. No other bar in Danbury has dancing like this." The camaraderie with the regulars spilled over to my best friend from grammar school and myself. We will be back to learn line dancing too. If you want to bring someone underage that is not a problem, the security at the door will write CM on their hand with a Sharpie magic marker so they can keep track of the underage patrons. Also the food is great and reasonably priced too.
