Mexico’s most celebrated dance company, Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernandez, brings their stunning dance to The Ridgefield Playhouse on September 30

Experience and celebrate Hispanic Culture this month with colorful costumes, upbeat music and amazing dancing at The Ridgefield Playhouse.  For six decades Ballet Folklórico de México de Amalia Hernandez, has brought Mexican history and culture to stages around the world. The Ridgefield Playhouse is proud to bring this incredible dance troupe to the stage on Wednesday, September 30 at 7:30 p.m. as part of the Palm Bay International World Beat Series. Come see exquisite folk dances accompanied by a traditional mariachi band and colorful costumes that reflect the rich culture of Mexico.  Ticket holders are invited to a complimentary wine tasting at 6:45 p.m. with Palm Bay International in the lobby prior to the show.  Before the show visit Southwest Café (109 Danbury Road, Ridgefield) for dinner and receive a free Margarita with your entrée when tickets are presented.  Media sponsor for this event is 90.7fm WFUV.

This premier folkloric dance company of Mexico, housed in the Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico City, has pioneered the art form of baile folklorico, a collective term for traditional Latin American dances that emphasize local folk culture.  The dances reflect the traditions, customs, legends, beliefs and lifestyles of people in particular countries and regions.  Expressing the life and spirit of the people through movement and music, it is both historical and current, preserving tradition yet moving with the present times.  Ballet Folklorico de Mexico promotes pride in Mexican cultural heritage and this artistic form of communication unites Hispanic Americans across the country, helps build a sense of community and creates a way to share Mexico’s rich heritage with others.
