Danbury names new principal of Broadview Middle School

Edie Thomas, principal of Pembroke Elementary School, has been named as the new principal of Broadview Middle School and will begin her new position July 1.

Thomas has been principal of Pembroke since 2006. Prior to her appointment there, Thomas served as an assistant principal at Broadview for four years. Thomas began her career in Danbury as a teacher in Broadview’s music department.

“Edie brings ten years of experience in helping our youngest students to build strong foundations in literacy and math,” said Superintendent Sal Pascarella. “When coupled with her middle school years in teaching and leadership, this experience makes Edie Thomas uniquely qualified to lead our middle school students toward a successful high school experience. I am excited for the district, and invite all of our teachers, staff and the whole Broadview community to welcome Edie back to Broadview.”

Thomas earned a bachelor’s degree from Western Connecticut State University, a master’s degree in special education from the College of New Rochelle, and a sixth-year professional degree from Southern Connecticut State University. She is currently completing her doctorate in education, curriculum, teaching and leadership at Northeastern University.

Thomas replaces Edward Robbs who is retiring after 18 years as Broadview’s principal.
