On July 22nd, Guiding Eyes for the Blind and the National Championship Winners of the Porsche Club of America will come together at Speedsport Tuning for a special event: Puppies & Porsches.
"Car enthusiasts and dog lovers can enjoy a morning of exploring the impressive collection of racecars at Speedsport Tuning while socializing aspiring guide dog puppies as they mingle among guests at the early stages of their training. A fully trained Guiding Eyes Dog costs as much as a Porsche, but are given at no cost to people with vision loss."
The event was started by Guiding Eyes CEO and President Thomas Panek, and high-speed driver Melissa Panek. The two care a great deal about both dogs and cars, and have decided to team up with Speedsport Tuning to make this event possible. Thomas lost his vision, but did not lose cars or dogs in his life. Him and his wife celebrate that love with Puppies & Porsches. “When I lost my vision, I did not lose my love of going fast," Thomas shared, "and with Melissa as the high-speed driver on the racetrack and my guide dog Gus on the paddock, I have the best of both the sighted and blind worlds.”
Speedsport Tuning is located at 52 Miry Brook Rd, Danbury, CT. The event will take place on Saturday, July 22nd, with dog and car mingling from 9 am to 12 pm, the scenic drive to Yorktown HQ from 12 pm to 1 pm, and the graduation ceremony at 1:30.
