Kratos Gymnasts Impress at USA Gymnastics Connecticut State Championships

On April 9th and 10th gymnasts from Kratos Gymnastics of Bethel participated in the 2021 Levels 4 & 5 CT State Championships.  This was the first in-person, multi-club, competitive event for the gymnasts since the start of covid-19 in 2020.  Collectively being some of the youngest participants in the state, the three gymnasts who represented Kratos executed standout performances.

Nine-year-old level 5 gymnast Lydia Hodge of Danbury executed an exquisite performance on floor exercise which earned her the top score of the entire competition and propelled her to become the youngest level 5 State Champion of 2021! Despite falling on both uneven bars and balance beam due to a few “first meet back” jitters, Lydia continued onward with poise and elegance, displaying physical and mental strength throughout the competition; undeniably proving that she is a rising star. In addition to winning gold on floor, Lydia earned 5th place on uneven bars and 2nd place on the balance beam despite her falls on both events, as well as 3rd place all-around. 

Eight-year-old Brooklynn Swartz of New Milford and nine-year-old Marina Perreault of Wilton both competed in the level 4 division of competition.  Brooklynn and Marina displayed powerful performances in which the potential of a strong future was apparent for both gymnasts.  Brooklynn narrowly missed gold on both beam and floor, taking home the silver medal on both events, as well as placing 6th in the all-around.  Marina’s elegant performance on balance beam earned her the title of CT State Beam Champion! She also placed 7th on uneven bars, 6th on floor exercise, and took home the bronze in the all-around.
