Danbury, CT – June 17, 2025 – The Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut, in collaboration with the Danbury Cultural Commission, CityCenter Danbury, and the Danbury Farmers Market, is proud to present the Sidewalk Chalk Art Festival on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Ives Street Green in downtown Danbury. This year’s event is reimagined through a dynamic partnership between regional and local cultural leaders. The result is a more inclusive, community-driven experience that invites artists, families, and art lovers of all ages to transform the sidewalks into a vibrant, open-air gallery.

“This collaboration is a beautiful example of what happens when organizations come together with a shared vision,” said Lisa Scails, Executive Director of the Cultural Alliance of Western Connecticut. “We’re not just creating art — we’re creating connection, visibility, and joy in the heart of our community.”

Participation is free, but space is limited. Registration is required by June 11 at either www.DanburyArts.com or www.cawct.org/chalk-sidewalk-event.

A limited amount of chalk will be provided, and participants are encouraged to bring their own materials and creative spirit.

“We’re thrilled to see this event evolve into something that truly reflects the spirit of Danbury,” said Gregory Wencek, Coordinator of the Danbury Cultural Commission. “It’s about celebrating creativity in all its forms and making space for everyone to participate.”

The festival will also feature a Community Chalk Zone for children under 6, ensuring that even the youngest artists can join in the fun. The event will take place rain or shine, as long as the Farmers Market is open, adding to the lively atmosphere of downtown on a summer Saturday. Bring plastic or a tarp to protect your masterpiece in case of rain.
