Darien Police to Participate in One Billion Rising Connecticut
Darien, CT – Each year the Domestic Violence Crisis Center (DVCC) assists more than 3,500 victims of domestic violence. The DVCC is the sole provider of domestic violence services to the town of Darien, and works closely with the Darien Police Department.
The Darien Police is proud to partner with the DVCC and participate in the V-Day One Billion Rising global campaign to demand an end to violence against women and girls.
One Billion Rising is a call to action based on the staggering statistic form the United Nations that one in three women on the planet will be beaten or raped in her lifetime.
Since its launch nine months ago, ONE BILLION RISING has gained huge momentum, attracting thousands of supporters across 160 countries and gaining the support of politicians, artists, writers, celebrities, thinkers, activists, non-profits, unions and corporations around the world.
On Thursday February 14, 2013 The Darien Police will be participating in a One Billion Rising rally in Norwalk on the Norwalk Green from noon to 1:00pm. Supporters are asked to stop by.
