The arrest stems from a motor vehicle accident that occurred on 12/24/12 at approximately 5:15 PM. At that time, Pinto had been operating his Toyota Highlander on the Post Road in the area of Gardiner Street when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole. Damage to the pole and utility lines caused a power outage that affected approximately 600 CL&P customers. As a result of injuries incurred, Pinto was transported to Stamford Hospital by Post 53. A search warrant for medical records was obtained and revealed that Pinto's blood alcohol content was over the legal limit. A warrant for his arrest was then applied for and signed.
