MARCH 4TH PRESS BRIEFING

Wednesday, February 27th, domestic violence arrest by warrant. Arrested: Steven Antler, DOB 5/1947, 6 Shields Lane. Charge: Disorderly conduct. At approximately 10:00 PM, Antler, arrived at police headquarters to obtain a copy of a report regarding a domestic violence incident that occurred at his residence. He was then advised of the arrest warrant. He was released on a written promise to appear with a scheduled court date of February 28th. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred between Antler and his wife on February 4th at approximately 10:00 PM. It was ascertained that a verbal argument escalated to the point where Antler struck his wife in the face with a 12"X 12" box containing cake. No medical treatment was required. Upon arrival of officers, Antler had departed the residence and all attempts to contact him proved negative. A warrant for his arrest was then applied for.

Thursday, February 28th, arrest of Richard Morales, DOB 7/1988, 19 Little Fox Lane Norwalk. Charges: DWI and red light violation. At approximately 2:00 AM, an officer observed a black Ford Escape go through a red traffic signal at Post Road and the exit 11 northbound exit ramp. The vehicle, operated by Morales, was then pulled over by the officer. The officer detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from Morales' person and he subsequently failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He posted at $250.00 bond and has a scheduled court date of March 11th.

Thursday, February 28th, arrest by warrant of Jessenia Maharaj, DOB 11/1976, 52 Randall Avenue Stamford. Charges: assault 3rd degree, risk of injury to a minor, conspiracy to assault 3rd degree, and breach of the peace. Maharaj arrived at headquarters after being advised of the arrest warrant. She was processed for the arrest, released on a written promise to appear, and has a scheduled court date of March 11th. The arrest stems from an incident that occurred at the Darien Playhouse, 995 Post Road, on January 27th at approximately 5:11 PM. A female employee, age 16, working at the concession stand was attacked by a group of women, two of whom she knew. The victim indicated that she has had an ongoing dispute with one of the females, age 16. As a result of the attack, the victim sustained scrapes and small cuts and swelling to the facial area. She was transported to Stamford Hospital by Post 53 EMS. The victim subsequently identified Jessenia Maharaj and another female, age 16, as the principal attackers. The female juvenile in question was issued a juvenile summons on February 4th and was assigned a juvenile court date of February 19th at the Stamford court. The juvenile was charged with assault 3rd degree, conspiracy to assault 3rd degree and breach of the peace.

Friday, March 1st, arrest of Jacek Pieszkin, DOB 11/1968, 54 Lenox Avenue Stamford. Charges: DWI, failure to drive right, failure to signal when turning. At approximately 6:28 PM, headquarters received a 911 call reporting that a pickup truck was swerving in the roadway in the area of the Post Road and Old Kings Highway South. The vehicle was further described as a Chevy Silverado. A responding officer spotted a vehicle matching the description provided traveling westbound on the Post Road in the area of Old Kings Highway South. The officer observed the vehicle travel over the double yellow line into the oncoming lane, and then turn right onto Dickinson Road without signaling. The vehicle, a 2000 Chevy Silverado, was then stopped. The operator, Pieszkin, failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He posted a $250.00 bond and has a scheduled court date of March 11th.

Saturday, March 2nd, arrest of Robert Tillman, DOB 2/1983, 35 Lawton Avenue Stamford. Charge: DWI. On 3/1/13, from 11:00 PM to 3:00 AM on 3/2/13, a DWI checkpoint was conducted at the intersection of South State Street and Atlantic Street in Stamford. Participating departments included the Stamford Police Department, Darien Police Department, and the Connecticut State Police. At approximately 1:11 AM on March 2nd, a 2005 Nissan Maxima entered the checkpoint being operated by Tillman. While speaking with Tillman, the officer noted an odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. He subsequently failed his field sobriety tests and was arrested. He posted a $250.00 bond and has a scheduled court date of March 12th.

Saturday, March 2nd, arrest of Michael Nolen, DOB 8/1980, of Garrison Kentucky. Charges: DWI, possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance, drinking while operating a motor vehicle. At approximately 1:28 AM, Nolen was operating a 1996 Toyota Avalon through the checkpoint established at South State Street and Atlantic Street in Stamford. While speaking with Nolen, the arresting officer detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from his person. Additionally, the officer observed a partially consumed bottle of Budweiser beer in Nolen's right hand. He failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. During a search of his vehicle, 4 pills were discovered in the front console's ash tray. The pills were determined to be Alprazolam which is a controlled substance. On the vehicle's rear floor, a small glassine bag containing a small quantity of white powdery substance was field tested positive as cocaine. Nolen was released on a written promise to appear and has a scheduled court date of March 12th.

Saturday, March 2nd, arrest of Mario Campos, DOB 1/1964, 156 Madison Avenue Bridgeport. Charges: DWI and failure to drive right. At approximately 1:35 AM, an officer observed a 2002 Honda Accord traveling east on the Post Road in the area of West Norwalk Road. The vehicle was traveling approximately 10 mph, and was crossing over the centerline. The vehicle was stopped in the parking lot of the Double Tree Hotel. Campos failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He posted a $250.00 bond and has a scheduled court date of March 12th.

Saturday, March 2nd, arrest of Avidan Galeano, DOB 2/1981, 11 Elizabeth Street Norwalk. Charges: DWI, driving with a suspended license and failure to drive right. At approximately 2:39 AM, an officer observed a 1991 Honda Civic traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the Post Road in the area of Beach Drive. The vehicle crossed the centerline on several occasions and also struck the curb in the area of Old Kings Highway South. Galeano failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. He was released on a written promise to appear and has a scheduled court date of March 12th.

Saturday, March 2nd, domestic violence incident and arrests. Arrested: Shawn Oliphant, DOB 5/1982, 25 Hoyt Street Darien. Charges: Disorderly conduct. Arrested: Melissa Donohoe, same address, also charged with disorderly conduct. At approximately 3:12 AM, headquarters received a 911 call reporting a domestic incident with an assault in progress. Upon arrival, it was determined that both subjects had been involved in a verbal argument which escalated into a physical confrontation. The 911 call was made by Donohoe's mother. Officers observed that both individuals had scratch marks on their faces indicative of a struggle. Donohoe was issued a misdemeanor summons at the residence in order to care for their 16 month old child, and has a scheduled court appearance date of March 4th. Oliphant was taken into custody. It was determined that he is currently on probation, and his probation officer instructed that he be remanded to custody and not be allowed to post bond. He has a scheduled court date of March 4th.

Sunday, March 3rd, arrest of Marisol Dominguez, DOB 9/1970, 8 South Edgewood Trumbull. Charges: DWI, operating with a suspended license, operating with a suspended registration and passing on the right. While traveling north on I-95 in the area of exit 11, an officer observed a 2003 Ford Focus swerving in its lane and passing vehicles on the exit ramp on the right side. The vehicle was stopped on the exit ramp in close proximity to the Post Road. Dominguez failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. It was also determined that he was the subject of a failure to appear warrant from the Connecticut State Police Troop A. He posted a $1,995.00 bond and has a scheduled court appearance date of March 13th for the Darien charges and a March 14th court appearance date at the Waterbury Superior court for the CSP charge.

Sunday, March 3rd, arrest of Douglas Barnett, DOB 11/1965, 13 Surry Lane Monroe. Charges: DWI, possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, interfering with an officer, operating an unregistered motor vehicle and failure to insure motor vehicle. At approximately 4:54 AM, an officer on patrol observed a 2004 Ford Free Star van parked on the side of Tokeneke Road. The vehicle's headlamps were on and the vehicle was running. The operator, Barnett, was seated behind the steering wheel and was asleep. Upon awakening Barnett, the officer detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage emanating from the vehicle. Barnett failed his field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest. Whille being removed from the patrol vehicle at headquarters, officers observed that Barnett's hands contained a white powdery substance and the same substance was on the vehicle's seat where Barnett had been situated during transport. Paper fragments were also present. This substance tested positive for cocaine and the additional charges were subsequently added to the original DWI charge.Barnett posted a $7,500.00 bond and has a scheduled court date of March 13th.
