ABBA: A Global Phenomenon
Sunday, October 25, 2026 at 8:00 PM · Barry and Florence Friedberg Auditorium

Since winning the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo" in 1974, ABBA’s rise to global fame has been rivaled only by the likes of The Beatles. With timeless hits such as "Dancing Queen," "Fernando," and "Take a Chance on Me," the Swedish foursome defined an era of pop excellence. After the group’s 1982 hiatus, members pursued solo careers and musical theater success with "Chess." A massive 1990s resurgence, fueled by the record-breaking "ABBA Gold," led to the global phenomenon of Mamma Mia! on stage and screen. Following a 40-year hiatus, ABBA returned in 2021 with a new album and the revolutionary "Voyage" show in London featuring state-of-the-art "Abbatars." This course explores their journey through tremendous success, personal heartaches, and an enduring musical legacy. This event is also available virtually.
