This lecture invites you to explore the profound evolution of the American proposition that “all men are created equal,” tracing its journey from a bold revolutionary promise in 1776 to its realization as a foundational guarantee of equal birthright citizenship within the Reconstruction Amendments. Drawing on insights from his latest work, “Born Equal: Remaking America's Constitution, 1840-1920,” Professor Amar will lead a deep dive into our constitutional history, followed by a dynamic panel discussion and an exclusive book signing.
