New Zero- A Solo Show by Stephanie Cortes

Hosted by resident artists Anthony Burks and Erika Kyle in their Studio 2 gallery. New Zero invites viewers into a body of work inspired by the New Mystical Feminine and the arcane. Through illustrative portraits of women from diverse backgrounds and generations, Cortes explores identity, intuition, and transformation. Delicately rendered ornamental frames extend each portrait, suggesting the unseen energies that connect women to nature and to one another. The exhibition also offers a preview of Cortes's ongoing tarot project: a fully illustrated black-and-white reinterpretation of the classic Rider-Waite Tarot. Influenced by Art Nouveau and Victorian aesthetics, the series transforms the familiar deck into a noir-inspired visual narrative rich with symbolism and atmosphere. Since 2023, Cortes has been an active participant in Florida's gothic and alternative arts community, exhibiting and selling her work at art and oddities events, alternative music festivals, and artist markets throughout South Florida. New Zero represents a significant milestone in her artistic practice, bringing together themes that have shaped her work into her first solo exhibition.
