Join experienced writing instructor Jessica Bram as she leads The Art of the Personal Essay Workshop at the Fairfield Public Library. Everyday life offers unlimited opportunities for reflection and making sense of the world around us. From op-eds, to personal essays, to the New York Times' "Modern Love" column, to blog posts, a well-crafted personal essay can translate the writer's thoughts and experiences into something that is accessible, engaging, and illuminating to others. This workshop is intended for the more experienced writer who has already done some personal writing and is ready to elevate their skills and develop advanced techniques of personal essay writing. Material will be prepared in advance each week and shared in class in a constructive and supportive atmosphere. Participants will be asked to bring a 1-2 page piece of nonfiction work on any subject to the first class. Contact Karen Ronald, Town Librarian, at kronald@fplct.org to register for this workshop.
The workshop will meet six times during the fall: Wednesdays, September 18; October 2, 16 and 30; November 6 and 20, from 7:00-9:00 pm in the Jennings Room at the Main Library, 1080 Old Post Road.
The Fairfield Public Library has a variety of programs and services for writers including Writers' Groups, a monthly Writers' Salon, a monthly Writers Read night and a dedicated Writers' Room.
