The CT Audubon Society Center at Fairfield has been receiving many recent calls about small birds found in their yards. Here are some tips if you find yourself in this situation:
- In many cases, the parents might be near by, so please don't move baby birds from where you've found them. Many fledglings are leaving the nest at this time of year, and some time on the ground is just part of the process.
-If you see the nest, you can put them back - the myth about birds being abandoned after they are touched by people is just that - a myth! Most songbirds do not have a strong sense of smell. Don't be afraid to help them home.
