Southport, CT – In a world where many of today's young people haven’t yet learned the benefits of manners and etiquette, The Barclay Classes, by popular demand, are returning to Pequot Library. Since 1930, The Barclay Classes have taught confidence, poise and good manners. The social graces are taught step by step for children to develop social skills that are used for a lifetime. Sign your child up now for these Tuesday afternoon/early evening classes running once a month from October 2014 – May 2015. Pequot Library, once again, opens its Auditorium/Concert Hall to help teach the next generation manners, ballroom dancing, table decorum and interviewing techniques. The classes will meet approximately once per month between October and May allowing ample time for children to be involved in other activities.

Strong social skills and poise continue as keys to success for the 21st century. Ten Tuesday afternoons and early evenings for third graders 4:30pm - 5:30pm; fourth graders 6:00pm - 7:00pm. Theme night programs for fifth, sixth and seventh graders 7:15pm - 8:15pm.

Class dates are as follows: September 23; October 21 & 28; December 2; January 6 & 20; February 3; March 3; April 21; May 5.

Enrollment in The Barclay Classes will prove to be invaluable throughout your child’s life. The classes are held in an atmosphere conducive to learning self-control and good manners. Games are used to keep the children engaged. The Barclay Classes are held in Pequot Library’s Auditorium/Concert Hall.

Confidence, poise and good manners learned early in life stay with us forever and will distinguish your child in any social, business or academic situation. Areas covered include: ballroom dancing as a teaching vehicle; making a good first impression; table manners; manners in other social situations; children learn to sit and have polite conversation; dining courtesies and proper introductions.
