
The U.S. Census Bureau recently reported on where the heaviest population growth in Connecticut was concentrated last year. The fastest and only growing county in Connecticut between July 1, 2013, and July 1, 2014, was Fairfield County, whose population rose 0.4 percent over the period. With respect to numerical growth, Fairfield County added 3,319 people over the period, more than any other county in the state.
Fairfield County is the most populous county in Connecticut, with 945,438 residents, followed by Hartford and New Haven Counties with 897,985 and 861,277 residents respectively. This information is based on annual population estimates for each of the nation’s counties, county equivalents, metropolitan statistical areas, and micropolitan statistical areas since the 2010 Census and up to July 1, 2014.
