Lifelong Fairfielder Rita Bailie Passes

Fairfield, CT -- Rita M. Bailie died peacefully on February 29, 2015 surrounded by her two favorite men, her sons.

She was preceded by her husband, A. William Bailie, her mother, Carmella (Mary) Gilberti, and father Michael Gilberti. She is survived by her sons, Scott T. Bailie (Sandi) of Fairfield, CT; Michael W. Bailie (Nancy) of Columbia, SC; her 4 granddaughters, Megan Nesvig (Brian), Maura Bailie, Ashley Atala (Paul), Brittany Nolan; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Rita was a lifelong resident of Fairfield and graduate of St. Vincent's School of Nursing. During her career she worked as a fun-loving nurse at various hospitals in New York and Connecticut. She had a passion for life and a get-it-done attitude. Rita was a typical Italian dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother and had an immense love for her family. She was an avid baker and made the best broccoli bread around. She loved watching UCONN basketball and NFL football. Rita always had a smile on her face and made you want to live a better life. She was a lifelong member of St. Emery's Parish.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 9:15 a.m. in the Lesko & Polke Funeral Home, 1209 Post Road, in Fairfield Center and 10:00 a.m. at St. Emery's Church, Fairfield. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery, Fairfield. Friends may greet the family on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Norma F. Pfriem Cancer Center at Bridgeport Hospital, 267 Grant Street, Bridgeport, CT 06610 or St. Emery's Church 838 Kings Highway E., Fairfield, CT 06825.
