
Fairfield, CT - The Sacred Heart University Academic Music Program will host two free concerts as part of Guitar Fest 2018, featuring classical guitarist Terry Pazmiño at the first concert on October 16 and the Joe Carter Trio on October 17 with SHU Music Program Director Joe Carter, renowned jazz bassist, Harvie S. and drummer Graciliano Zambonin.
Classical guitarist Terry Pazmiño belongs to a generation of virtuosi and composers who demystified European influences and rediscovered the popular music of Latin America. He has performed in the concert halls of 42 countries, including the Sydney Opera House and Carnegie Hall. Joe Carter has used his experience performing around the world to create a sound based in “Samba Jazz,” a style that combines the improvisational nature of North American Jazz with the lyrical and rhythmical aspects of Brazilian Bossa Nova, Samba, Choro, Baiao and MPB. Carter is currently director of the Academic Music Program at SHU and directs the University’s Jazz Ensemble.
The event will be held at the WSHU Broadcast Center’s Stone Family Assembly Hall at Sacred Heart University, 5151 Park Avenue, Fairfield. Terry Pazmiño will be on Tuesday, October 16, at 7 p.m. The Joe Carter Trio will perform on Wednesday, October 17, at 7 p.m.
