Fairfield Museum Announces IMAGES 2019 Show Winners

FAIRFIELD, CT – The Fairfield Museum and History Center is proud to announce the winners of IMAGES 2019, its eleventh annual Juried Photography Show. Winners were chosen in the categories of Landscape, Portrait, Architecture, Nature and Abstract. The exhibition of the winning photographs will open on Thursday, February 28 on Fairfield County’s Giving Day with a reception from 6-8pm. The public is invited to the Fairfield Museum, 370 Beach Road, for an evening with music by Billy Ruegger, refreshments and the opportunity to meet the photographers, judges and IMAGES 2019 featured photographer, Jen Edney. Edney’s adventure photography is world renowned and she was recently named by National Geographic as one of “Nine Female Photographers Who Push The Limits.”

IMAGES 2019 is a highly-regarded exhibition that celebrates the exceptional work of talented, regional photographers. This year’s jury of Douglas Foulke, Brad Smith, and Edney selected the winners from more than 500 photographs. At the reception, every submission to the 2019 contest will be featured in a slideshow, and the jury will announce the “Best in Show” photographs in both the Professional/Serious Amateur and Student categories. They will also award honorable mentions. The Professional/Serious Amateur winner will receive their own exhibition at Southport Galleries on a date to be determined by the gallery. The Student winner will receive a professional portfolio review with Philip Trager.

IMAGES 2019 will be on display through April 28 and is presented in memory of Marcia B. Saft. A former Fairfield Museum Board Member and devoted community leader and philanthropist, Marcia Saft (1945-2016) was an enthusiastic supporter of Fairfield’s history and artistic legacy. The Fairfield Museum would like to thank Southport Galleries for its continued support.

In addition to the photographs selected by the jury, the contest featured online voting for one “Viewer’s Choice” winner. East Hartford student Inelyz Viruet was selected for her photograph Silence. The other winning entrants are:
