Fairfield Covid-19 Relief Fund Receives Challenge Grant from Anonymous Donor

Fairfield, CT - First Selectwoman Brenda Kupchick announced today that the Town of Fairfield has received a commitment from an anonymous Fairfield resident to match every dollar raised up to $25,000 to the Fairfield COVID-19 Relief Fund.  The Town of Fairfield partnered with Operation Hope this past week to launch a relief fund for Fairfield residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Fairfield COVID-19 Relief Fund (The Fund) has been established for the purpose of providing limited, one-time assistance to Fairfield residents who have been adversely impacted by the pandemic.  The Fund is accepting charitable gifts to the Fund, and thus far has raised over $8300 from 48 donors, not including the $25,000 commitment. Since news of the COVID-19 Relief Fund was announced last week the Town has received 15 applications, and as many inquiries.

Operation Hope is administering the fund on behalf of the Town however, the funds are solely used for the purpose of providing direct relief to eligible applicants. Operation Hope is not the recipient of the funds.

Any individual or organization wishing to make a financial contribution may do so in the following ways:

I continue to be inspired by our community’s generosity.  This critical fund is one-way people can make a difference in helping our Fairfield neighbors through this difficult time. I want to thank members of my administration for all their hard work to get this fund up and running.”

Social Services Director Julie DeMarco said, “We are so impressed with the number of residents who have already donated to the COVID-19 Relief fund. It’s no surprise, in a community like ours, that neighbors want to help their neighbors. It’s such a comfort to know that we truly will get through this together.”

Operation Hope Executive Director Carla Miklos said, “We are pleased to assist by providing a safe mechanism for donors who want to help our neighbors in need through this Fund. While we don’t benefit from these funds, it’s the right thing to do. We continue to provide critical services to residents during this challenging time, and still seek monetary donations as well as non-perishable donations for our food pantry to keep us afloat.”
