Fairfield, CT - The horrible tragedy of the war in Ukraine has compelled many U.S. and international organizations to step up and do their part to lessen the suffering of the Ukraine who are mired in a horrific war they did nothing to provoke. Add to this list of organizations a group of local comedians including Mat Orefice of Fairfield.
“It has been so excruciatingly painful watching the suffering in Ukraine,” exclaims local comedian and founder of CategoryTen (a local board game company), Shahan Islam, who organized the event, as another of a series of “Comedy Night in Wilton” to be held on May 14 (see attached flyer) at the Cannon Grange www.cannongrange.org.
Proceeds from the May 14 event will be donated to World Central Kitchen (WCK), a non-profit NGO founded in 2010 by chef Jose Andres. WCK has opened many kitchens throughout Ukraine and the border area with Poland. Earlier this month, one of those kitchens in Kharkiv, Ukraine had been hit by a missile and four members of the kitchen were hospitalized with severe burns.
Tickets for the benefit may be purchased at www.categoryten.com or at https://categoryten.ticketleap.com/comedy-night-in-wilton---saturday-may-14/.
