Fairfield County Children's Choir Annual Spring Concert at The Klein, May 13

Fairfield, CT -  The Fairfield County Children’s Choir will present “Songs of Spring and Summer” in its Annual Spring Concert on May 13, 2023 at 7:00 PM at The Klein Auditorium in Bridgeport. From the opening selection, Circus Band by Charles Ives, which begins with the words, “All summer long…”, to Franz Schubert’s Maying Song, and finishing with Katrina and the Waves’ Walking on Sunshine, this program will feature music that lifts the spirit and welcomes the sweetest months of the year. 

Showcasing nearly 300 children, ages 9 - 18, in four different choirs, the concert will include a setting of Robert Louis Stevenson’s Bed in Summer, a whimsical portrayal of a child’s feelings upon having to go to bed while it is still light out, and pieces titled Welcome Spring, Bee, I’m Expecting You and My Soul’s Alive with Spring. Folk songs will be prominent, including a modern arrangement of the Bulgarian song, Kafal Sviri, about a young girl who hears a flute playing in the village, The Water is Wide, Skye Boat Song, and Cape Cod Chantey, which the FCCC Chamber Singers will perform while on tour in Cape Cod in the summer. There will be lively arrangements of the Gospel classic, Feel Good, Yonder Come Day, Stand in That River, and the jazz classic, Route 66. 

Music Director and Founder, Jon Noyes, said, “This concert is sure to evoke optimism, joy and pure fun. Along with a few introspective pieces, the children’s voices will thrill and charm.”

About The Fairfield County Children's Choir

The Fairfield County Children's Choir (FCCC) is a community-based non-profit choral program of four choirs and nearly 300 children in grades four through twelve from across Fairfield County. They perform locally and throughout the world. Recent performances have included Carmina Burana at Lincoln Center, the Vivaldi Gloria with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony, and two first-place showings at the Golden Gate Choral Festival in San Francisco.
