Stratfield School Families Bring Bike Bus Movement to Fairfield

Fairfield, CT - A Bike Bus is when adult chaperones lead a bike route — taking kids to school in a group — similar to a bus route. The bike bus is a fun, community-centered way to support and encourage elementary-school children to bicycle to school, giving them the experience of cycling on roads, with the safety of being directed by adults and surrounded by others cycling.

More than 40 Stratfield Elementary School children and their families will be participating, along with volunteers from Trek Bicycle Fairfield, Stratfield Village neighbors, and other local bicycling advocates.

It's fun, green and becoming more popular by the day. Bike Buses have a positive impact on the environment, build community, and support physical fitness by encouraging students, families, and staff to communally bike to school. Bike Buses and Walking Buses are part of a fast-growing national movement to provide safe, fun, and physically active options for elementary school children and families to get to school.

Stratfield School's Bike Bus event will be held Friday, May 12, starting around 8:15am.

(Inclement weather date: Friday, May 19, 2023, same time and locations).
