BEVI BULLWINKEL

An award winning abstract artist, she works primarily in acrylic and water-mixable oil on canvas, emphasizing the simplicity of line and importance of space in her composition. Her paintings often reflect an abiding interest in nature and a concern with its fragility and impermanence.

Bevi attended Vassar College and received an MA from Columbia University. She is affiliated with CT art associations in New Canaan, Ridgefield, Rowayton, and Westport. Her work is represented in private collections around the country.

The artist says: "Painting to me is like poetry. While working in any media, I try to distill my thoughts and feelings in order to express the essence of what lies beneath the surface. My intents is to evoke emotion and convey a sense of mystery."

TOBY MICHAELS

After having taught Art in Westport, Weston, and Darien, Toby Michaels received her Masters Degree in Art Therapy and Counseling. She initiated an Art Therapy program for Norwalk Hospital’s Department of Psychiatry, where she practiced for seventeen years. She later led art therapy groups at Silver Hill Hospital in New Canaan, CT. She was also appointed Adjunct Professor of Art Therapy at Quinnipiac College in Hamden.

Toby is an award-winning, now full-time abstract expressionist. She is a member of Artists Collective of Westport, and she is represented in the Westport School’s Permanent Art Collection. She has had numerous art shows in her long and productive career. Media appearances include Cablevision’s “Creative Women Today”, and the award-winning film “Years in the Making.”
