Fairfield, CT - In the wake of its successfully hosted car show on Sunday, June 9 at Fairfield Ludlowe High School, the CT Seaport Car Club made a substantial donation of $5,100 to charities from the proceeds of of the show. The amount is the largest donated by the Club in its 15-year history!

Operation Hope of Fairfield, whose mission is to end homelessness and hunger one person at a time, was the Club's largest beneficiary, followed by the Fairfield Police K9 Unit. Carla Miklos, Executive Director of Operation Hope, made the car show welcome address and had several representatives at a nearby booth all day.

Additionally, the Fairfield Police K9 Unit did a captivating demonstration by their talented dogs and trainers. Several police officers put the dogs through their paces and even demonstrated their ability to attack a “perpetrator” on command! The rookie police officer who posed as the “perp” was dressed head to toe in protective gear as the dogs are vicious when asked to be. Despite the padding, that Officer had bruises for two weeks after one of the demos!

Morgan Stanley, a Bronze Level sponsor of the Club's car show, donated $500 directly to Operation Hope; the CT Seaport Car Club donated $500 to the Fairfield Police K9 Unit; and the CT Seaport Car Club donated $4,100 to Operation Hope at the Club's regular monthly meeting on Wed. July 31 at Port 5 (the National Association of Naval Veterans), for a total donation of $5,100. In the picture shown here, the 4 Officers of the CT Seaport Car Club are presenting Carla Miklos with a check for $4,100.

Carla Miklos was thrilled about the Club's donation and spoke at its monthly meeting about a specific need she planned to address with the funds. Apparently, a "client" of Operation Hope's has a free-standing home with a sidewalk and driveway that have been in need of repairs for years. Carla says it is unsafe for the children of this house to play on the sidewalk and she hates to see how bad it looks when she drives by. They constantly have to put out parking cones or saw horses to block the holes. Federal funding cannot be used to address these repairs, but she is very pleased to be able to apply our funds to make the necessary repairs after years of waiting.
