Pipes in the Valley Returns September 27

Confessions of a relatively recent arrival in Hartford: though I’d head people rave about Pipes in the Valley for years, I always thought the Celtic festival took place somewhere else in the Connecticut River Valley - someplace rural, perhaps, but definitely not in Connecticut’s capital.
In fact, however, Pipes in the Valley takes place right here, and it returns to Hartford’s Mortensen Riverfront Plaza on September 27 from 11:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Produced by Riverfront Recapture in partnership with the Olde Burnside Brewing Co., the event promises “traditional and Celtic rock bands on two stages, Highland athletic games, step dancing, bag pipers, birds of prey, Highland cows, kids’ activities, puppetry and storytelling, sword demonstrations, Celtic food, and plenty of Ten Penny Ale.”
And if you’re busy on the 27th, there’s a Pipes in the Valley Happy Hour on September 26.
